Linda Zang of Idlewilde Farm in Davidsonville, Maryland, has represented the United States as a dressage competitor at the 1978 World Championships,the 1979 Pan-American Games and the 1980 Alternate Olympics at Goodwood, England. She has been an FEI judge since 1985, achieved her “O” status in 1995, and is currently one of only four “O” judges in this country and twenty in the world. “O” judges are qualified to judge various levels of international competition, including World Championships and the Olympics. Linda was one of the dressage judges at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, the 1998 WEG in Rome and the 2006 WEG in Aachen, Germany. She has judged eight World Cup Finals, including the 2009 finals in Las Vagas and the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg. Additionally, Linda was chairman of the ground jury for the dressage portion of the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Linda’s accomplishments as a rider as well as a judge led to her induction into the USDF Hall of Fame in 2009. Linda likes to engage her audience while teaching, which makes for a fun and enriching learning experience. She is a huge resource on what judges are looking for and the direction that dressage in the U.S. is heading.
